Internship positions

Student internship: theoretical physicist in condensed matter

Project summary :

To design and collaborate on the creation of a findable, interoperable and reusable database that contains non-spectroscopic properties of  quantum materials, extracted from the scientific literature. He/she should also collaborate with other teams to develop online visualization and comparison tools.

Background: Ph.D. in condensed matter physics, familiar with different electronic simulation softwares.

Student internships: mechanical engineering

Project summary :

To prepare the 3D designs and finite element simulations of heat gradient. The intern also collaborates on building and mounting the components of the synthesis and characterization platforms and performs the tests in real environments.

Background: B.Sc, M.Sc. or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. Familiar with 3D softwares such as SolidWorks and finite element heat simulation softwares such as Comsol multi-physics.

Student internship or job opening: electrical engineering

Project summary :

To design and test different configurations of the high temperature heaters the were previously designed and microfabricated by Chemia and simulated by other teams. The intern is also responsible for developing and implementing micro-electronic circuits and power supply of large the micro networks (thousands of heaters that operate at different conditions simultaneously). The intern is also responsible to develop the electronics of the characterization platforms with nanovolt precisions.

Background: B.Sc, M.Sc. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering. Familiar with Labview or Python and CST or Comsol or Matlab. Hands on experience in a microelectronic lab and PCB design is an asset.

Student internship or job opening: robotics or mechanical engineering

Project summary :

To develop fully automated solutions for solid and liquid material transport with a precision of micrograms and micro liters respectively to more than 100 separate target locations.

Background: B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. student in robotics or closely related fields. Having experiences in process automatization in biological, biomedical or chemical fields is an asset.

Student internship: database development

Project summary :

To create a findable, interoperable and reusable database of quantum materials with the existing data extracted from the literature and the data that is produced by our characterization platform.

Background: B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. student in computer science or other fields with prior experience on design and deployment of a large database. Experience with SQL and AWS is an asset.

Student internship: computer scientist

Project title :

To develop or implement a solution to extract measured physical properties of quantum materials in published physics and chemistry journals using a training set that was prepared manually by Chemia with archetypical quantum materials. The data should be extracted directly from figures most of the times.

Background: B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. student in computer science or closely related fields. The intern should be expert in machine learning, NLP, reinforcement learning.
