Quantum material is an umbrella term that is defining the materials that understanding their physical properties requires the concepts of quantum physics. These materials are usually showing remarkable electronic properties and emergent phenomena such as superconductivity, topological insulator, spin liquid and spin ice for instance.
It is hard to use such materials in different technologies as the mentioned physical properties usually appear at extreme conditions i.e. low temperature, under a high magnetic field and under pressure. Moreover, quantum materials are usually complex and are consisted of more than three elements therefore it is very time consuming to synthesize them and explore new material systems.
At Chemia, we are focusing on discovering new quantum materials in its broader sense i.e. the complex materials that are consisted of many more than three different elements.
